Mindaugas Glodas becomes President of Infobalt

The members of the Lithuanian Information and Communication Technology Association Infobalt elected a new board, which elected Mindaugas Glodas, Executive Director of Norway Registers Development (NRD) and the NRD Companies Group, as its Chairman and President of the Association.
“At a time when the country’s well-being depends on the size of the digital economy, the role of the Infobalt Association in promoting the digitisation of the public sector and business, as well as exports of the ICT sector, has grown significantly. I regard the association as the main expert centre of the Lithuanian digital economy and a think tank, which gathers the most advanced representatives of the ICT sector and helps to shape Lithuania’s digital policy,” said the new President of Infobalt M. Glodas.
Furthermore, an overwhelming 91% agreed that legal and technological solutions are of equal importance when it comes to reforms, related to the Ease of Doing Business index. Sylvia Solf, Global Lead for Business regulation at the World Bank group and one of the panel speakers at the webinar, expanded upon the idea by noting that all of these changes need to be of human-centric design in order to be most beneficial.
According to him, the tasks for the next few years are related to the involvement in the implementation of the measures of the Plan for the DNA of the Future Economy, the formation of the Lithuanian Digital Development Program 2021-2030, as well as the attraction of European digital innovation centres.
“We need a breakthrough in education, which can be achieved both by digitising education and improving quality, increasing the number of ICT specialists, with a strong focus on retraining and developing modern skills. Lithuania should also be more involved in the implementation of the EU Digital Agenda in order for our country to become a policy-maker in this field and to demonstrate regional leadership in Central and Eastern Europe,” Mr Glodas said. “On the other hand, Lithuania already has innovations and solutions in certain areas – transport, cybersecurity, financial technologies, artificial intelligence – which, with the support of the country’s top leaders, could be successfully exported abroad.”
By taking this position, Mr Glodas replaced Giedrius Markevičius, the outgoing consultant of the Lithuanian Institute of Innovation and Technology and the head of Check Point Software Technologies for the Baltic States. Mindaugas Ubartas remains the CEO of the association.
Infobalt currently operates in the business environment improvement, cybersecurity, export and sales, innovation, digital leadership, start-ups and investments, education and human resources, financial technologies (Fintech Lithuania), industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and data centres groups.
